“The only ones for me are the mad ones — mad to talk, mad to be saved, delirious of everything all at the same time. The ones who never yawn or say a commonplace thing but burn, burn, burn like fabulous yellow Roman candles exploding like spiders across the stars…”

The Mad Ones follows 18-year-old Samantha Brown, sitting alone in a parked car, as she battles her yearning for the unknown and feelings bound by expectation. As memories of her senior year force themselves out of her subconscious and into the limelight, Sam faces a world bound by the influence of her reckless best friend Kelly, her helicopter mother Beverly, and her boyfriend Adam, and must find her own identity in these memory jumbles from before her life shattered to pieces. Now, Sam has to make a decision. Will she follow her mother’s dreams for her, or will she summon the courage to drive away from her friends and family into a future she can’t imagine?
